This is a plain-language draft prepared by the Podalls team, not legal advice. Have it reviewed by a qualified adviser before relying on it — particularly the liability section, whose enforceability varies by jurisdiction.
Agreement
By installing or using Podalls Convert or Podalls Downloader ("the software"), published by Podalls, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not install the software.
Licence
You are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the software on computers you own or control, including for commercial work, for as long as these terms are observed. No fee is charged and no account is required.
What you may not do
- Redistribute or resell the installer as though it were your own product.
- Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except where law expressly allows it.
- Remove or alter any notice of ownership it carries.
- Use it to infringe someone else's rights, or to process material you have no right to.
You keep every right in the documents you open, convert or create. We claim nothing in your files, and never see them.
What you download
Podalls Downloader fetches whatever links you give it. You are responsible for having the right to download, keep and use what you download: its copyright, and the terms of the site it comes from, still apply. Do not use the software to download material you have no right to. We do not host, choose, check or see anything you download.
Updates
The software checks for new versions and can install them. Versions are published openly on the releases pages of Podalls Convert and Podalls Downloader, and you may pin a version and manage upgrades yourself instead.
No warranty
The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. File conversion is inherently approximate: results depend on how the source document was built. Check every converted document before relying on it, and keep your original files.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Podalls is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, nor for lost profits, lost data or corrupted documents, arising from use of the software. Because the software is supplied free of charge, total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for it.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Where you deal as a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
Third-party software
Converting documents, spreadsheets and presentations to PDF uses an office application already installed on your machine. Those applications are governed by their own licences, which are between you and their publishers.
The software includes open-source components, the PDFium library and the Lucide icons, under
their own licences. Video and audio conversion uses FFmpeg, installed with the app as a separate
program under the GNU General Public License version 3. Copies of these licences are installed
in the licenses folder next to the app.
Podalls Downloader installs yt-dlp, FFmpeg and Deno beside it as separate programs, each under its own licence (FFmpeg under the GNU General Public License version 3), with copies of those licences installed alongside them.
Ending the licence
The licence ends if you breach these terms, and you may end it at any time by uninstalling the software. Nothing needs to be cancelled and no data is held back.
Changes
These terms may change; the date at the top of this page changes with them. Material changes apply from the date shown. See also the privacy policy.
