How to add a watermark to a PDF on Windows

Three steps, all on your PC. Nothing is uploaded.

  1. Open Tools › PDF › Add watermark, or choose it in the Reader’s Convert menu.

  2. Type the text and pick its direction, size, strength and colour.

  3. Check the preview and save. The original is not changed.

    The watermark is added as bold text, so it prints sharply at any size.

What this tool does not do, said plainly.

  • Watermarks are text; pictures and logos cannot be used.
  • PDFs that forbid changes cannot be watermarked; unlock them first.
  • Watermarking a signed PDF means its signature no longer holds. You are warned.

Can someone remove the watermark?

It is text on the page, so a PDF editor can delete it. To stop changes, protect the watermarked copy with Protect PDF and leave Allow changes off.

Can the watermark be in Chinese, Tamil or Arabic?

Yes. Text beyond the Latin alphabet is drawn with a Unicode font installed on your PC. If none is installed, the app says so.

How do I add DRAFT to every page of a PDF?

Open Add watermark, type DRAFT, pick diagonal or straight, and save. Every page gets it.

Is Add watermark to PDF in Podalls Convert free?

Is my file uploaded anywhere?
